the scene group UrbanKings to the alt.binaries Usenet newsgroups on April 25, 2010.
While official international retail versions of this compilation carried either
16 or 17 tracks, this UrbanKings Usenet deployment represents an unauthorized
preservation anomaly. The group extracted the audio from the standard international
retail disc using EAC (Secure Mode) and compressed it via LAME to 320kbps MP3
"Insane" quality. However, during compilation, the group entirely omitted the
"Alejandro" (The Sound of Arrows Remix) and "Dance in the Dark" (Monarchy 'Stylites'
Remix) tracks. Despite this truncation, the release offers a fascinating look at
the rapid, wild-west ecosystem of 2010 Usenet piracy, where major-label dance-pop
and underground club remixes were aggressively digitized and circulated to newsgroups
like alt.binaries.boneless via providers like Eweka within days of physical launch.
